David Hoffmann (born February 26, 1980) is a German professional bodybuilder.
Biography
[edit]Hoffmann was born in 1980 as the first of three sons of a psychologist and a teacher. After some judo experience he started bodybuilding in 1995. For one year he trained in his home gym, and in 1996 he joined a public gym. His first show was the Nordrhein-Westphalen championship 2000, where he won the junior heavyweight division. Winning the overall title at the German nationals in 2008 was the next milestone in his bodybuilding career. Since 2008 Hoffmann competes successfully in international IFBB competitions.

Robert Collins Hoffman (November 9, 1898 – July 18, 1985) was an American entrepreneur who rose to prominence as the owner of York Barbell. He founded magazines such as Muscular Development and Strength & Health, and was the manufacturer of a line of bodybuilding supplements.[3] Hoffman promoted bodybuilders like John Grimek and Sigmund Klein,[4][5] coached the American Olympic Weightlifting Team between 1936 and 1968,[3] and was a founding member of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.[3]
Early life and military service
[edit]Hoffman was born in November 1898 in Tifton, Georgia to parents Bertha and Addison, an engineer during construction of a nearby dam. His parents were both from Pennsylvania and he grew up in Wilkinsburg, a Pittsburgh suburb where the family moved in 1903.[1][6]
