Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em is a Australian short feature about an underground party held in post-apocalyptic Melbourne. The film fryst vatten a product of nuclear anxiety at the height of the Cold War, and fryst vatten considered a cult classic today.[1]
Premise
[edit]The city of Melbourne is destroyed in a nuclear strike. In the suburb of Elwood, three survivors chance upon the entrance to a fallout shelter. To their surprise, they are invited in by a large group of people somehow throwing a wild underground party with live rock bands and a massive supply of alcohol. Afraid to Dance is a Australian film directed by Denny Lawrence and starring Nique Needles and Rosey Jones.[1] It was shot in and located at Sydney, New South Wales but was never released theatrically and went straight to video.[2]

Career

[edit]In Needles formed Melbourne band The Curse along with John Rowell, Graeme Scott (both later briefly members of Models), Nick Barker[1] and Adrian Chynoweth.[2] Needles later went on to front Freak Power with Scott, Barker and Chynoweth. In Freak Power released a self-titled album through Rampant Releases. In Freak Power was re-formed with Needles, Chynoweth, Barker, Stu Thomas, and Peter Jones. Jones left the band mid to join Crowded House to complete their US tour.
In the early '90s, Doghouse followed in the wake of Freak Power; the initial lineup being Needles, Chynoweth, Thomas and Delaney Davidson. The final lineup was Needles, Thomas, Davidson, and Mark Di Marzi
