Swedish dramatic soprano opera singer (born 1963)
Lena Iréne Sofie Theorin (born 18 June 1963) is a Swedish dramatic soprano opera singer.
Education and early years
[edit]Born in Gislaved Municipality (at the time Burseryd municipality), Småland, Theorin studied at the Academy of Music and Drama of the University of Gothenburg. After one year there, she received a contract at The Göteborg Opera in Gothenburg. After that she continued studying at 'The Opera Academy' in Copenhagen, Denmark. During her final year there, she also studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and received an Advanced postgraduate diploma.[1] In 1998, she was a recipient of a Léonie Sonning scholarship (Danish: Stipendium fra Léonie Sonnings Musikfond).[2]
Theorin's professional debut took place in Copenhagen, as Donna Anna in Mozart'sDon Giovanni. Her repertoire includes Brünnhilde in Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen, Isolde in his Tristan und Isolde,

Iréne Theorin, born on June 18, 1963, is one of Sweden’s most renowned artists, known for her interpretations of the dramatic repertoire.
She studied at the Academy of Music and Drama of the University of Gothenburg, which led to a contract with The götet Opera. Then she studied in Copenhagen, where she made her professional debut.
From there, her career has burgeoned and she has appeared with such companies as the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Vienna State musikdrama, Mariinsky Theatre, Bayerische Staatsoper, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Salzburg Festival, Metropolitan musikdrama, Washington National Opera, Royal Swedish musikdrama, and La Scala in Milan, among others.

Iréne Theorin graduated from the Music Academy and Royal Opera School of Copenhagen, and is performing on the greatest international opera stages.
Last season, she was Brünnhilde (Die Walküre and Götterdämmerung) at the Bayreuth Festival, Brünnhilde (Die Walküre) in Stockholm, and she made a double appearance as Ortrud (Lohengrin) at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and the Berlin Staatsoper unter den Linden.
Other recent engagements include the complete Ring cycle at the Berlin Staatsoper unter den Linden, the title-role in Turandot at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid and New National Theatre Tokyo, the title-role in Elektra at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, Brünnhilde (Die Walküre) at the Royal Swedish Opera, Ortrud at the Flemish Opera, the title-role in La Gioconda at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.
