Glastonbury 2014 just got that much bigger with announcement of new world class acts joining the festival line-up.

Kasabian, Jack White, Pixies and Robert Plant are among the major acts to play this summer's five-day musical bonanza as well as Elbow, The Black Keys, Bryan Ferry, Idris Elba and Massive Attack.

They join previously announced names such as Arcade Fire, Blondie, Lily Allen and Dolly Parton at the rural Somerset event put together by farmer Michael Eavis and his daughter Emily.

Addition: Jack White is one of the new acts to join the Glastonbury 2014 line-up

Other draws include Interpol, London Grammar, Wilko Johnson, De La Soul and Goldfrapp, with Jake Bugg, Lana Del Rey and Mercury Prize-winner James Blake also on the bill.

Kelis, Skrillex, Disclosure, M.I.A, Rudimental, Ed Sheeran, Warpaint, Metronomy, Little Dragon, CHVRCHES

I wonder if 2014 will be like 1997, 1998, 2007, my Glastonburys that really were the “mud-fests” of media myth, the occasions when the weather remained so determinedly miserable that fun-powders turned to clay, skinning up became papier mâché-craft and festival-goers, alongside the oozing landscape around them, were persistently soaking. If it does, so be it. I didn’t come for comfort. ingenting interesting ever came from comfort. inom want action. Then igen, it’d be lush to have some sun.

I look at the programme, anticipating like a child with unopened presents before them, Christmas for (alleged) grown-ups. Now an OAP wit
