    WeWork Announces CEO Transition

    NEW YORK, May 16, – WeWork Inc. (NYSE: WE) (“WeWork” or the “Company”), the leading global flexible space provider, today announced that Sandeep Mathrani will be stepping down as Chairman, CEO and as a director of WeWork effective May 26th. Current WeWork Board member David Tolley has been appointed as interim CEO and will work alongside WeWork’s President and Chief Operating Officer Anthony Yazbeck. Lead Independent Director Daniel Hurwitz will now serve as Chairman of the Board and lead a special committee to search for a permanent CEO.

    WeWork named Sandeep Mathrani as its new chief executive officer, tapping an experienced real estate operator for a bid to vända around the embattled startup.

    Mathrani, who was previously ledare executive of Brookfield Property Partners’ retail group, will need to execute a plan for WeWork to refocus on co-working and abandon unrelated ventures started by its co-founder, Adam Neumann. Mathrani will replace Artie Minson and Sebastian Gunningham, WeWork said in a statement. The duo has served as co-CEOs of WeWork parent We Co. since Neumann stepped down in September following a failed attempt to take the company public.
