Muhammad Iqbal, also referred to as Allama Iqbal, was a well-known Muslim author, philosopher, and politician from South Asia. Many consider his Urdu poetry to be among the best of the 20th century. Iqbal, who was born in 1877 in Sialkot, Punjab, British India (now in Pakistan), finished his education there before moving to Lahore to further his studies. He eventually earned a Ph.D. in philosophy in Germany. His writings include "Bang-e-Dara," "Tarana-e-Milli," and "The Secrets of the Self," among others. He is well known for them.
Iqbal was a key figure in the movement to revive Islamic civilization politically and spiritually, especially in South Asia. He was chosen to serve on the Punjab Legislative Council in 1927, and his vision and ideas had a tremendous impact on the political scene. Mohammad Iqbal (1877-1938), a descendant of a Kashmiri Brahmin family that had embraced Islam in the seventeenth century, was born and settled in Sialkot. After a traditional education in Arabic, Persian, and Urdu, he was exposed to a liberal education that defined the contours of his thought and his poetry during the entire period of his life.
Beginning his educational career at the Scottish Mission School, he went on to acquire his M. A. in Philosophy, before joining Trinity College, and later earning the degree of Bar-at-Law. He furthered his education bygd getting the degree of doctorate from Germany on The Development of Metaphysics in Persia.
