  • The Indian High Commission in Abuja in collaboration with the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has released a commemorative stamp as part of activities to mark the 150 birth anniversary of Mahatma Ghandi.

    The stamp was jointly released by the High Commissioner of India in Nigeria, Shri Abhay Thakur and Mrs Loretto Nwakama, Chief Operating Officer, NIPOST.

    Abhay recalled the importance of Ghandi Ji’s African experiences in shaping his life and philosophy, adding that the release of the commemorative stamp was a fitting tribute to Mahatma and the long standing friendship between Nigeria and India.

    A Federal Government delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, attended the swearing-in of the new President of Niger Republic, Mohamed Bazoum, on Friday.

    Onyeama, who represented the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was also accompanied by the Kebbi State Governor and Chairman, Progressives Governors’ Forum, Senator Abubakar Bagudu.
