    And workers with disabilities often man great entrepreneurs. "We have learned to be very focused," said Urban Miyares, president of the Disabled Businesspersons Association. "We prepare. We understand our limits, and we use our talents well."

    The Sixth Annual Mayor’s Awards, hosted by Mayor Helene Schneider. Keynote speaker Urban Miyares, recognized entrepreneur and President of the Disabled Businesspersons Association, will share his unique and personal perspective on disabilities.

    Keynote Speaker, Urban Miyares is a blinded and multi-disabled Vietnam veteran who began his business career in 1968 when employment was difficult to find. With almost 40 years of entrepreneurship, Miyares has been recognized by former Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton, the U.S. Congress, U.S. Small Business Administration, and many others in government, business and the community.

    The Mayor will present awards to local businesses for facilitating employment for individuals with disabilities.
