    Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, draftsman, sculptor, graphic artist, jewelery designer and ceramicist.

    After studying at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando art school in Madrid, Picasso made his first trip to Paris in , then the art capital of Europe. In early , Picasso lived in Madrid again,
    In he became a favorite of American art collectors Leo and Gertrude Stein and in he joined an art gallery in Paris recently opened by Daniel-Henry Kahnweiler, a German art historian and art collector. He became known in Paris from , because he was one of the first defenders of the cubist work of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque.
    In Paris, Picasso maintained friendships with famous people from Montmartre and Montparnasse, including Andre Breton, poet Guillaume Apollinaire, writer Alfred Jarry and Gertrude Stein.

    In the early 20th century, Picasso still lived in Barcelona and Paris.
