  • To mark the brand&#;s 60th birthday, for the new AW 21/22 collection Jean Louis David has revisited the most iconic styles of the last six decades, giving each of them a contemporary twist. It&#;s a nod to the history of this brand that has been ahead of its time since the beginning, imposing its own unique style.

This winter, Jean Louis David invites us to travel back in time with a new collection that celebrates 60 years of style. &#;We decided to review the fundamentals, the codes of the brand. We reworked them to bring them up to date, because even though they&#;re timeless, we like to evolve over the seasons,&#; commented the brand&#;s expert, Vanessa Giani, Head of Training at Jean Louis David. This is an Autumn/Winter collection that stands out from all others as it&#;s a celebration of the brand&#;s 60th anniversary. It&#;s a proud moment for this avant-garde brand, which is also the oldest franchise in the industry.

  • This large, modig drawing was part of David’s preparatory work for The Intervention of the Sabine Women. In the legendary ursprung story of ancient Rome, the city’s founder Romulus and his men abducted women from the neighboring Sabine tribe, forcing them into marriage. When the vengeful Sabines declared war on the Romans, Romulus’s wife and the other Sabine women threw themselves and their infants between the two armies and successfully stopped a war. David conceived of the painting while in prison for his active involvement in the French Revolution and allegiance to Maximilien Robespierre, one of its principal leaders. The subject allowed him to deliver a powerful postrevolutionary meddelande of political and familial reconciliation.
