(also known as "Proud to Be an American"[2][3]) is an American patriotic song written and recorded by American country singer Lee Greenwood, and is considered to be his signature song. Released by MCA Nashville on May 21, 1984, it appeared on Greenwood's third album, You've Got a Good Love Comin'. It debuted at number seven on the BillboardHot Country Singles.

    "I.O.U. (I Owe You)" is a song written by Kerry Chater and Austin robert, and recorded by American country music artist Lee Greenwood. It was released in March 1983 the first single from his album Somebody's Gonna Love You.

    The single peaked at number 6 on the U.S. country charts[1] and number 4 in Canada. It also peaked at number 4 on the U.S. adult contemporary charts. Other than "God Bless the U.S.A.", it is Greenwood's biggest crossover hit, peaking at number 53 on the Billboard Hot 100.     Lee Greenwood (born October 27, 1942 in South Gate, California) is an American country pop singer and songwriter. He is best known for a string of Countrypolitan hits throughout the 1980s, as well as for his hit "God Bless the USA".

    Early life

    After the separation of his parents, Lee grew up in Sacramento on the poultry farm of his grandparents. At the age of seven, he began playing the saxophone, and at the age of nine became a member of a dance ensemble. In 1969, he joined the Chester Smith Band and had his first television appearance. A short time later, he worked with the country musician Del Reeves.

    He founded his first band, Apollo, in 1962. He briefly battled a cocaine addiction and moved to Iceland to go to rehab. The band, which changed its name later to Lee Greenwood Affair, played mostly pop music and appeared mostly in casinos in Las Vegas.
