Case Files: namn Hubble
Introduction
"Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universum around him and calls the adventure Science." - Edwin Hubble
In the early 1920s, most astronomers believed that the Milky Way galaxy made up the whole of the universum. But namn Hubble changed everything when he came to the realization that the Milky Way fryst vatten but one of millions of galaxies in a universe that is constantly expanding. In discovering the true natur of the cosmos, Hubble became the founder of observational cosmology.
Academics and Athletics
Edwin Powell Hubble was born in November of 1889 in Marshfield, Missouri to Virginia Lee James and John Powell Hubble. His father worked for an insurance company, and the family settled in Wheaton, a suburb of Chicago, when namn was nine years old. As a young boy, Hubble was an avid reader and became very interested in science. He was particularly close to his paternal grandfather, who once had an article written bygd the twelve-year-o

Edwin Powell Hubble - The man who discovered the cosmos
| Edwin Powell Hubble |
"I knew that even if I were second or third rate, it was astronomy that mattered."
This sentence, written by Edwin Hubble recalling his youth, tells us a lot about the man. A man who eventually broke the promise made to his father and followed the path dictated by his passion.
As a result of Hubble's work, our perception of mankind's place in the Universe has changed forever: humans have once again been set aside from the centre of the Universe. When scientists decided to name the Space Telescope after the founder of modern cosmology the choice could not have been more appropriate.
A promising student
Edwin Hubble was born in Missouri in 1889, the son of an insurance executive, and moved to Chicago nine years later. At his high school graduation in 1906, the principal said: "Edwin Hubble, I have watched you for four years and I have never seen you study for ten minutes." He paused, leav

(1889-1953)
Who Was Edwin Hubble?
Edwin Hubble graduated from the University of Chicago and served in WWI before settling down to lead research in the field of astrophysics at Mount Wilson Observatory in California. Hubble's revolutionary work includes finding a constant relationship between galaxies' redshift and distance, which helped to eventually prove that the universe is expanding. Additionally, a classification system that he created for galaxies has been used by other researchers for decades, now known as the Hubble sequence.
Early Life
Born in Marshfield, Missouri on November 20, 1889, to father John Powell Hubble and mother Virginia Lee (James) Hubble, Edwin Hubble began reading science-fiction novels at a young age. One of his favorite books was Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
In 1898, when he was 10 years old, Hubble and his seven siblings moved with their parents to Chicago, Illinois. There, Hubble attended high school and excelled a
